Question
Philosophers The greatest obstacle of human happiness is EGO. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Thanks to all your answers. Have a great day!
Answer
Ego is actually healthy and a good thing.brbrBelieve it or not, the absence of ego is what most people describe as quothaving an egoquot. By not having an ego or by having a lack of one, people will overcompensate for it and act outwardly like they think they should... giving rise to the quothaving an egoquot syndrome.brbrIts the people that have an ego, and in a healthy quantity, that dont act like they do. They dont need to, they are satisfied being themselves.brbrPersonalities that lack ego are the ones desperate for acceptance, who have lack of selfesteem in themselves that they try not to show.brbrbrHOWEVER...brbrI do agree with you...brbrPride, shame, all the seven deadly sins... is what stops people from pursuing and acquiring those things in life that would make them happy.brbrBecause putting themselves on the line for a hope, a desire... is too great of a personal risk... when consequences of failure do exist.brbrThe desire to maintain ones self, as is, to prevent immediate pain... usually dominates over any potential long term gains. The ego is defensive, protecting the psyche.
